Get Messy and Pass the Armchair Test

In fall of 2015, a friend asked me if I wanted to go some fancy-named mountain place called ‘The Enchantments. Without a super clear, weeks of google-research-formed idea of what it was I said, “Yes.”

Some of the best decisions in my life have been made on a whim, without jumping into the analysis game. “Climb into the mountains? Sure!” “I’m quitting my job. Let’s meet in Peru!”

The practical world is always waiting for you on the return trip.

And it won’t miss you. I mean, Mom will miss you, but the machine will still turn.

The Armchair Test

If I passed up on those ‘impractical’ opportunities that I wanted to take, but didn’t because I let my mind, naysaying friends and corporate carl get to me, I’d be saturated with regret.

Thankfully, taking the risk to do great things, like go into the Enchantments on a whim, won’t have to be replaying in my mind 70 years from now in a hospice bed.
