Resources and Negative Reinforcement

A person sites under an apple tree. Its branches sag from the weight of its fruit. In the shade of the tree sits a man. He holds a sign:

“Hungry. Anything Helps. God Bless.”

With resources for food hanging within reach, the man begs as onlookers question his motives: “Why must I part with my hard-earned coins to reward this man for his lack of resourcefulness?”

Isaac Newton realized a theory of gravity when the apple of knowledge struck his head. Had someone given him an apple, an entire body of science may never have formed.

What does it take to realize that the resources we need are within reach?

“The defining factor is never resources. It’s resourcefulness.” -Tony Robbins

Put the sign down, and pick your head up. Burn the boat. Let’s go.
